CORNERSTONE: New Album Details Revealed
September 1, 2003CORNERSTONE, the project featuring ROYAL HUNT bassist Steen Mogensen and ex-RAINBOW/current YNGWIE MALMSTEEN vocalist Doogie White, have completed work on their third album, "Once Upon Our Yesterdays", due on November 3 through Massacre Records.
The following is the complete track listing for the album and a short lyrical description for each song, as told by White:
01. "When the Hammer Falls"
(a study of the last thoughts of Jesus just before the nails tear into His flesh)
02. "Hour of Doom"
(that suicidal feeling between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.)
03. "Once Upon Our Yesterdays"
(ever wonder what happened to your first love, if they remember it like you do?)
04. "Scream"
(for the lost and lonely on the streets)
05. "Passion to Warfare"
(a true story of love and loss)
06. "End of the World"
(a reflection on current world events)
07. "Some Have Dreams"
(be careful what you wish for)
08. "Welcome to Forever"
(a celebration of Rock music and its followers)
09. "Man Without Reason"
(a sad song)
10. "21st Century Man"
(organized religion...the curse of the modern world?)
Joining White and Mogensen on the new album are returning members Kasper Damgaard on guitar, and Allen Sorensen on drums. Guesting on keyboards are Rune Brink and ROYAL HUNT's Andre Andersen.
Says Doogie, "We are all really pleased with the album and feel sure that the fans who so enjoyed 'Human Stain' will revel in this new one. It is very classy and unlike anything I've heard recently. We are continuing to update that 'classic rock' sound, both in writing and production. We never felt any pressure to compete with the last album and just buried ourselves in making an album that is as dramatic as it is edgy. There is a great depth and soul to the album. I am more proud of this than any other album I have ever worked on. Kasper has been awesome, and if this album doesn't make him the new guitar hero on the block then there is no justice."
In related news, White has collaborated with guitarist Bill Liesegang on a new LIESEGANG album, "Visual Surveillence of Extremities" (VSE),tentatively due before the end of the year through Escape Music (with whom the band signed a one-album deal). More information, including the full track listing, is expected to be announced soon.
Doogie says "It's been a long time coming has VSE, but I am sure that the fans will like the different approach in the music and songwriting that Bill and I have taken. He is a monster player and it is quite a different sound for me."
